Friday night at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup has been given a makeover. The Time Trials Superfinals remain for the top ranked riders in the world but the time trials qualification has gone and is replaced by qualification motos for Saturday’s supercross racing. The new look Friday night combines the tension of the world’s top riders racing solo against the clock in the Time Trials Superfinals with exhilarating supercross racing as rest of the field give everything they’ve got to make it through to Saturday night’s finals.

How will it work?

The top ranked 16 men and 8 women in the world will automatically qualify for Friday night’s Time Trials Superfinals where they will race against the clock to get the best gate selection and seeding for Saturday night as well the honour of being the crowned fastest on the night.

Riders not competing in the Time Trials Superfinals will race three motos to qualify for Saturday night’s supercross finals. Riders will be awarded points according to their position in each moto and these will be combined to find the top 48 men and top 24 women who will race against the top ranked 16 men and 8 women on day two.

In the event of riders being tied on points after the third motos, their times in the third motos will be used as a tiebreaker, adding an extra twist to the evening’s racing.

For each moto the riders will be drawn at random so every race will see riders battling with new opposition as they compete to stay in the competition. This will make for fascinating racing with riders having to be physically and mentally shaper than ever as positions and tactics change with each round. The competition promises to have you on the edge of your seat until the final moment!
