Description: Organisers of all five rounds of the 2014 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup took part in a seminar organised at the UCI headquarters in Aigle, Switzerland.

Held on January 8th and 9th, the third annual organisers’ seminar enabled participants to share their experience both from a sporting and an administration point of view.

The opening session included an evaluation of the 2013 World Cup, which comprised four rounds: in Manchester (Great Britain), Santiago Del Estero (Argentina), Papendal (the Netherlands) and Chula Vista (United States). These four venues return to the calendar in 2014 and are joined by Berlin (Germany), which makes its debut on the World Cup circuit.

“All the organisers are extremely competent and experienced,” explained UCI BMX Coordinator Ellen Bollansée. “This seminar enables them to refresh their knowledge of the regulations, review their obligations according to the Organisation Guide and discuss issues particular to their different events during the individual meetings. In 2014 we will have a new race format which needed some additional explanations.”

She added that specialists from the UCI addressed the seminar about the sporting elements of the World Cup as well as other marketing-related issues. Also participating in the seminar was Global SX Events Inc, which oversees the general management of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup.

UCI President Brian Cookson welcomed the organisers to the UCI and presented a trophy to Erik Kersten and Jacqueline Hoeks, representing BMX Holland and organisers of the Papendal World Cup round. On the calendar since 2011, Papendal was voted “best event” of the 2013 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup. Besides the organisation of the 2nd round of the 2014 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, BMX Holland is also organising the 2014 UCI BMX World Championships in Rotterdam (NED)

The 2014 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will get under way in Manchester on April 18 and 19. The overall World Cup winners will be crowned after the final round in Chula Vista on September 26 and 27.
