The first of the five rounds of this year’s Supercross series gets underway in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, on April 8th and 9th. Numerous athletes are taking the opportunity to train on the Supercross track and start ramp at the WCC in Aigle, Switzerland. Eight BMX athletes from the French Cycling Federation already spent last week (February 28th – March 4th) training on the centre’s BMX track. The French Federation will return with 14 BMX specialists at the end of the month. They are followed by 18 Germans (March 10th – 13th) then 40 young Swiss BMX specialists (March 13th) who will discover the eight-metre ramp and, for some, seek selection for international competitions. From March 20th, Elite riders from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, and Lithuania will also prepare the UCI BMX Supercross at the WCC. Track and 4-cross Meanwhile Swiss Cycling will train on the WCC velodrome on March 12th and 13th then again from March 16th to 19th in preparation for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships which take place in Apeldoorn (NED) from 23rd to 27th March.
