HILLIARD, OH (Jan. 19, 2010) — The National Bicycle League announced today that Erma Miller has been named Director of Planning and Innovations. The newly created position will develop and implement new programs and concepts aimed at improving the overall member experience and the sport itself. This R&D position will also fulfill a critical role of the strategic plan to identify and develop new trends in the sport that will be beneficial to the NBL.

CEO Gary Aragon commented: “Erma’s vast experience and expertise provide a valuable well of knowledge that the NBL can draw from to advance our goals and BMX. With a person dedicated to this critical effort, I am certain we will be able to not only be on the cutting edge of the sport, but to take a role in leading BMX into the future.”

Said Erma Miller: “I am excited about all the changes the NBL is making, and the changes yet to come through this new position are definitely going in the right direction to further grow the sport of BMX. Gary Aragon, the NBL's new CEO, most certainly has the BMX passion.”

When asked about the vacancy this promotion creates in the position of the National Field Clerk, Gary Aragon said: “One of the first things the Director of Planning and Innovation will be tasked with is the restructuring of the Clerk functions at our Nationals. Our goal is to develop and train a pool of clerks from within each region who will be hired for each event as staff to carry out the clerk responsibilities. These are people who are already volunteering, and this will give us an opportunity to compensate them for their efforts while extending our staff presence at our national events— in essence, we will have multiple National Field Clerks.”
